You're failing because you want to.
You're Failing Because You Want To (And That's Smart)
Self sabotage doesn't exist. What does exist is self preservation.
When I started entrepreneurship, I started with dropshipping. But I was stuck in this cycle of just having that routine. Waking up at 4:00am, going to the gym, going back home so I could finally rank and have visits on my website.
I think I just put myself into that routine and I was hiding myself in that routine that made me feel productive but was leading nowhere.
Because at the moment I sat down with myself and my thoughts, I told myself: if that model actually works, will I want to keep growing it?
And the obvious answer was no.
I didn't want to grow an ecom store or an ecom brand. I didn't want to have those kind of problems. These weren't problems I was willing to handle.
Your brain is protecting you from chasing goals that you don't actually want.
Here's what's really happening: you often set goals that look good on paper. They look good to other people that you hang out with. But deep down you don't really want them.
And you feeling like a fish that's trying to climb a tree makes you question every choice you make. Every move you do.
The truth is if you really want something, you don't need any course, any advisor, any more YouTube video. You don't need it if you really want something and you're clear on what you really want.
That's the difference here.
Failing your way to your truly desired goal is faster than going to your goal in the straightest line possible without any mistake.
Because when you truly are aligned with what you really want and you're working towards it, you learn faster, you work faster, you have more energy and you trust yourself more.
So now the question is: how to want the right things?
What you wanna do is subtract. It's all a matter of subtraction because you already have that thing inside of you right now. As I'm talking to you, you already have something that you want.
The truth is it might be hidden by all distractions, addictions and all the trash that gets into your way. Social media, food, what you consume, what you eat, what you see, what you hear. All of your senses are getting influenced by stuff that makes it hard to see what you really want.
Here's a process to get more clarity on that: subtract all of this stuff from your life. In order to subtract, you want to fast. Not only from food, but it's a kind of fasting that applies to everything.
The first thing you want to fast from is your ego. Killing your ego will make everything much clearer. One of the reasons we pursue some goals is so that we can look cool in parties.
But here's a trap you need to be careful about: differentiating self preservation versus fear of doing something. Because sometimes you actually have to do something, you just fear it.
Self preservation protects your values and your long term well being, whereas fear often protects your ego, your comfort.
Most of the time, preserving your values and killing your ego is the right thing to do.
Whenever you have a choice between two paths, you have to understand what you are attacking: ego or values?
If it kills your ego, you experience an ego death.
It's often a good thing because that's what makes you grow.
Whereas killing your values is often not a good idea.
Selling your time might be an attack to your values because you value freedom, you value sovereignty.
Posting videos attacks your ego cause it's hard. You get judged by other people.
That kills your ego, which is a good thing.
Be conscious what your brain is protecting you from. Go the opposite direction.
See you in the trenches,
